How website submissions work right now
When you submit the Share Your Story, advocacy, early-access or media form, your answers are sent securely (HTTPS) to a private Google account used only by Know Before You Own. They are delivered to knowbeforeyouownfl@gmail.com and logged in a private spreadsheet in that account. Files you upload are saved to a private Google Drive folder that is not shared with anyone.
Your information is not sold or shared, and nothing is published without your permission. Please cover highly sensitive details — Social Security numbers, bank information and passwords — before uploading anything. To have your submission deleted, email knowbeforeyouownfl@gmail.com.
The interactive checklist
When you tick items on the online buyer’s checklist, your progress is saved only in your own browser on your own device. It is never sent to us.
The flood check
When you use the flood check, the address you type is sent to Esri’s public geocoding service to place it on the map, and map tiles are loaded from OpenStreetMap and FEMA. Nothing is stored by this website.
